Social Marketing Session HW

1.) How is Social Marketing different from traditional Marketing?
The difference between social marketing and traditional marketing is that, in traditional marketing, the main focus is on the product and the profit while on the other hand, social marketing is focused on a social network between individuals. In social markets, instead of a company selling a product, you have a group of talented people sharing their products, instead of marketing them. In social markets, its is merits based, so if you do wrong, you get demerits, if you do good, you get awards.

2.) In your opinion is Social Marketing easier of more difficult compared to traditional Marketing?
The way I see it is that, what usually happens with traditional marketing is that, they oversell/over-hype a product but in reality, its not that useful; its because they don't really care about if it helps the customer. Social marketing is a lot harder to achieve because you have to convince the person not with of the product, but with social good. In traditional marketing, you have many ways to tell a person "you need this product" but in reality, its more of a luxury than a necessity.

3.) Cite any examples of Social Marketing you are aware of.
An example of a social marketing method that i usually see is when some of my friends post items that they try to sell on Facebook. The good thing about is it, the product is seen by almost everyone who is connected to him and they don't feel pressured about purchasing it because of peer pressure, if anyone is interested, they just reply right away and since they are already acquaintances they already directly know the buyer and the seller. I also know that my dad is fond of this kind of marketing because, he is a car enthusiast, and its more of a passion than a hobby so being around people who knows the car industry in and out, makes their networking a lot more stable.

World Views HW

1.) Give an example of each of the following and explain.
a.) An economic world view
In economics, the steady state economy is the means for achieving balance and equality. In conventional economics, growth is shown as the way to achieve wellbeing. The is focus on educating citizens, organizations, economic growth and economic sustainability, and international stability.
b.) A social world view
An example of a social world view would be that everyone in society trying to work amongst themselves so that each one would be able to move up and grow as better citizens.
c.) An ecological world view
An ideal ecological world view would be where in every one has knowledge and proper understanding about all organisms in the world, so that we are able to avoid catastrophes like having endangered species and extinction.
2.) Compare Genesis 1:28 and Genesis 2:15. Are this passages in conflict or in agreement? What is the ecological world view promoted by the Bible?
Well, in Genesis 1:28, it says that we should act as the watchers of the earth that God has provided us with, that we are the caretakers of the land but, in Genesis 2:15, it is heavy on life and death. But the way i see it, 2:15 is just trying to tell us that life will always have a begging and an end, nothing more. This does not mean that, we can choose what should live or die, our duty is to take care of everything that we can.
3.) Read Romans 3:10-18 and 1 John 2:16. How does this relate to the ecological, social and economic problems of the world? Site examples.

In the passage, what I understand for it, we all have a natural instinct to look after ourselves. That we do not see the picture as a whole. And because of our selfishness, we fail to see what God has asked us to do. Everything that we do for ourselves, is not morally good; we should always lift our accomplishments and achievements to God.
